Procedures to Get an Electricity Connection in Bangladesh
To get electricity connection, you have to go through 7 procedures. These steps are described below:
1. You need to get a clearance from the Chief Electrical Inspector to set up a substation. For that you have to take your entire design, substation design and load requirement to the Chief Electrical Inspector.
2. After that, you will have to hire an electrical contracting company. This company will buy the electronic equipment needed and test it. These equipments can all be found in Dhaka and need to be checked by experts in BUET before installation.
3. Next you have to submit an application to Dhaka Electric Supply Company. You have to attach following document with the application: two passport size photos, copy of the land deed, copy of tax payment, copy of agreement documents, approval paper provided by RAJUK, environmental clearance, clearance of explosives, copy of trade license etc.
4. Setting up the substation.
5. Pay the bill to DESCO and get an internal inspection.
6. After the payment to DESCO has been done, the electrical company you hired will pick up electric meters from DESCO. After that, the usage meter will be installed by the company.
7. The last procedure is receiving the last check by DESCO. After that the final connection will be made and you will receive electricity in your building.
