Abdus Salam Murshedy

Abdus Salam Murshedy, the Managing Director of Envoy Group, is one of the most outstanding entrepreneurs of Bangladesh. Mr. Murshedy has worked tirelessly to build a strong foundation for the industrial sector of Bangladesh.

This great visionary was born on October 6, 1963. He finished his graduation from the University of Dhaka and started his own business in 1984. Within just twenty years, he became one of the most renowned industrialists of Bangladesh with 14 garment factories and a washing plant.

Envoy Group is no longer just an RMG industry; the company has now expanded its business to information technology, computer, local and international trading, freight forwarding, fisheries, real estate, banking, health care and many such others.

Envoy Group is considered the leader in the export-based readymade garment industries of the country. The Government acknowledged all Envoy Group has done for the economic growth of this country by awarding them the ‘National Export Trophy’ and ‘President’s Export Trophy’. All this success has become possible only because of the tireless work of Mr. Abdus Salam Murshedy.

Mr. Abdul Salam Murshedy has been an integrated part of the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturer and Exporter’s Association (BGMEA) for the last two decades. His important contribution to the organization and the garments industry can be understood by the fact that he has been elected a Director of the organization for four consecutive tenures.  Mr. Murshedy was also designated the Vice-President of BGMEA for some time. Currently, he is the President of BGMEA.

Apart from his business expertise, Mr. Murshedy is also known for his excellent skill in the field of football. He was the captain of the Bangladesh National Football team for many international matches. He was a regular player for the ‘Mohamedan Football Club’ - one of the leading clubs of Bangladesh. Even though he retired as a player, he is not completely out of touch with the community. He has also contributed a lot for the promotion of young talents in the country. He contributed for the development of his old club – the Mohamedan Club. For his contribution for promoting young talented football players of the country, the Ministry of Youth and Sport awarded him the National Sports Award. He was elected the Senior Vice President of the Bangladesh Football Federation.

Mr. Abdus Salam Murshedy is young, honest and charismatic. He is also a renowned social worker and has taken various measures for the welfare of the less fortunate. He has also established numerous educational institutes all over the country.

      BGMEA got a new president and four vice presidents on Monday. Former footballer and managing director of Envoy Group, Abdus Salam Murshedi, was elected association president by the new directors.
      Dhaka, March 9 (bdnews24.com)—BGMEA got a new president and four vice presidents on Monday.

      Former footballer and managing director of Envoy Group, Abdus Salam Murshedi, was elected association president by the new directors.

      The 'Sammilito Parisad' panel, led by Murshedi, pulled off a landslide win in the 2009-10 BGMEA elections on Feb 24.

      The Parisad swept all 27 director posts handing a huge defeat to the 'Forum' panel, led by Dekko Group managing director M Shahadat Hossain Kiran.

      Others elected office bearers are: first vice-president Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, managing director of Eastern Apparels; second vice-president Md. Shafiul Islam, managing director of Onas Group; vice-president Faruq Hasan, managing director of giant group; vice-president (finance) Md. Siddiqur Rahman, chairman of Starling Group.

      They will take up their posts on Mar 12.

      The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association's executive committee has 20 directors in Dhaka and seven in Chittagong.
